Roblox Sound IDs (Music Codes): How to Find Ones That Still Work

Updated October 15, 2026

A sound ID is the number for an audio file on Roblox. If you've copied a list of old music codes and nothing plays, there's a reason — and a fix.

Why old music codes don't work

In 2022 Roblox changed its audio rules. Most audio longer than a few seconds that players had uploaded was made private, so it only plays in the uploader's own games. That broke thousands of popular music codes overnight. Lists that haven't been updated since are mostly dead codes.

How to find a sound ID that works

  1. Open the Creator Store on the Roblox website and choose Audio.
  2. Browse or search — tracks from Roblox's licensed music partners are public and usable anywhere.
  3. Click a track and copy the number from the URL.
  4. Paste it into the boombox or game's music box.
Many games only let you play sound IDs if you own a boombox or radio game pass for that game.
