Huss Valley Abilities: Every Runner and Chaser Ability (and What to Buy First)
Updated October 16, 2026
In Huss Valley you spend Gems on permanent abilities: one equipped for when you're a Runner, and one for when you're the Chaser. Each has a cooldown, so picking the right one matters more than having many. Here's what each does and where we'd spend Gems first.
Runner abilities
- One-Hit Shield (free): absorbs the next hit for under a second, then breaks. Small window, but it's free and saves you from a single lucky swing.
- Emergency Airhorn: knocks every nearby Chaser backward. Works in all directions, so it's your get-out-of-jail card when you're cornered.
- Pocket Door: drops a temporary door behind you. Chasers have to smash it or run around — very strong in narrow corridors.
- Cloak: you turn nearly invisible for about 3 seconds. Chasers who are close can still see a faint outline and still hit you, and using an item cancels it.
- Inflatable Decoy: sends a fake copy of you running straight ahead for a few seconds. Listed in some versions of the game, not all.
Chaser abilities
- Bear Trap (free): throw a trap a short distance ahead. The first Runner who steps on it is frozen for a moment. Great at chokepoints, useless in open fields.
- Rocket Shoes: an instant dash in the direction you're moving (or where your camera faces). The most reliable way to close a gap.
- Rufus's Leash: fires a leash a medium distance; if it connects, it yanks the Runner toward you.
- Big Dagger: doubles your melee reach for your next swing, for a few seconds. Turns near-misses into catches.
- Bowling Ball: rolls along the ground and trips the first Runner it hits directly.
Quick ranking
- Best overall: Emergency Airhorn (Runner) and Rocket Shoes (Chaser) — useful in every round.
- Strong on the right map: Pocket Door, Rufus's Leash, Big Dagger.
- Situational: Cloak, Bowling Ball, Inflatable Decoy.
- Free picks worth keeping until you can afford better: One-Hit Shield, Bear Trap.
Prices and numbers have changed between updates, and guides disagree on them, so check the in-game shop before you buy. This ranking is based on what each ability does, not on exact stats.
Gems vs coins
Gems buy permanent abilities. The currency you earn during matches buys one-time consumables. Codes are one of the easiest ways to get Gems early — see our Huss Valley codes page.
